Have you dusted off that new year’s funk yet? As we are 2 weeks into the new year, new strategies are being tested. But some still haven’t made changes. So how can you start the year off with a bang? Check out these 3 tips any marketplace can implement.
Did you meet your quotas or did marketing make the impact you had imagined? While you should have been reviewing your reports on a monthly basis, it is always good to review month over month progression. Being able to visualize the progress over a 12 month span can help bring back some perspective.
If you are using a CRM such as Hubspot, they have great reporting built right in and no graphing skills are needed. Simply pick the range and a graph is created. Once you have done that, take time to dissect each report and identify any trends such as sales being higher in the summertime but lower during the holiday season or vice versa.
Regroup with your team
Meetings are one of the best ways to reconnect with your employees. Whether you are the CEO or just a member of your marketing team. Schedule a time to regroup with your team and get an understanding of how comfortable each individual is in their roles or if they need any additional help. Assessing your team not only identifies progress but builds a better connection with your employees.
If your company size is in the thousands plus, this will be much more difficult. Send out a mass email to all managers to schedule a mandatory meeting with their teams within the first month of the year. This will help speed up the process of covering each employee and not having to make a thousand different meetings.
Goals for the year
Did your marketplace hit your goals for the previous year? Are you looking to have 10% higher ROI or gain 100 new customers? Creating your goals for the year will help give you and your team a timeline progression for each month. For example let's stick with the 100 new customers. Breaking that down to 12 months you will need to obtain about 9 new customers a month to reach your goal. Now that sounds much better than trying to push the number of 100 over your team's head.
Break down your goals on a month to month basis but keeping the yearly goal in mind. This will help relieve pressure within your team and more importantly workspace. Nobody likes to work in an uptight environment where people are simply looking to make a sale. While you hope to obtain your goal, creating relationships along the way are more valuable than making a one time sale. Be sure your team is here to enjoy the ride and not just being dragged along.
